Fluffy, tender donut bites infused with rich cinnamon sugar and drizzled with a sweet, creamy cream cheese glaze. These bite-sized treats combine the comforting flavor of a cinnamon roll with the convenience of a donut, making them perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick dessert.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 32 donut bites 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

34 cups vegetable oil or canola oil, for frying

2 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

12 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. 1. Open the biscuit dough and separate each biscuit. Cut each biscuit into 4-6 bite-sized pieces. 2. In a shallow bowl, combine the 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Stir well. 3. Pour 3-4 cups oil into a large heavy-bottomed pot to a depth of about 2-3 inches. Heat over medium heat to 350-360°F (175-180°C). 4. Carefully drop a few dough pieces into the hot oil without overcrowding. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed. Use a slotted spoon to flip and remove. 5. Drain on paper towels for about 30 seconds, then immediately toss in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated. Set on a wire rack. Repeat with remaining dough. 6. For the glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk (up to 1 more tablespoon) if needed for drizzling consistency. 7. Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm donut bites. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Maintain oil temperature between 350-360°F to prevent greasiness. Coat with cinnamon sugar while still warm for best adherence. Cream cheese should be at room temperature to avoid lumps in the glaze. For a change, try substituting crescent roll dough or adding a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 24 hours or refrigerated for 2-3 days. Reheat in a microwave for 10-15 seconds or in a 300°F oven for 5-7 minutes.
