This High Protein Turkey Avocado Melt is a quick, nourishing, and delicious weeknight dinner solution, featuring warm toasted bread with lean turkey, creamy avocado, and melty cheese. It’s a versatile, family-friendly recipe that comes together in under 15 minutes.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 sandwiches

Ingredients

Whole grain bread: 8 slices

Deli sliced turkey breast: 1 pound

Provolone cheese: 8 slices

Ripe avocados: 2 large

Butter, unsalted: 4 tablespoons

Mayonnaise: 4 tablespoons

Salt: To taste

Black pepper: To taste

Instructions

1. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side of each slice, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise.

2. Place one slice of bread, mayonnaise side up, on a clean surface. Lay two slices of provolone cheese on top. Arrange a generous portion of deli turkey breast over the cheese.

3. Slice the ripe avocados and arrange slices over the turkey. Lightly season with salt and pepper.

4. Place two more slices of provolone cheese on top of the avocado. Crown with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down. Repeat for all sandwiches.

5. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Place sandwiches in the hot skillet, buttered side down. Press gently with a spatula.

6. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cheese is melted. Adjust heat if browning too quickly.

7. Remove from skillet, slice diagonally if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use ripe avocados and low-sodium turkey. Slice avocado just before assembling to prevent browning. Cook over medium heat for even toasting and melting. Store leftover components separately; reheating in a skillet or air fryer yields the best texture.
