This Mandarin Orange Fluff Salad is a creamy, sweet, and tangy no-bake dessert or side dish featuring canned mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, mini marshmallows, whipped topping, cream cheese, and vanilla pudding mix. It’s a nostalgic family favorite perfect for potlucks, holidays, or any gathering.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes plus 2-4 hours chilling
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cans (11 oz each) mandarin oranges, drained

1 can (8 oz) crushed pineapple, drained

2 cups mini marshmallows

1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix (dry)

Instructions

1. Step 1: Prep the Fruit. Thoroughly drain canned mandarin oranges and crushed pineapple using a fine-mesh sieve, pressing gently to remove excess liquid. Set aside.

2. Step 2: Cream the Cheese and Pudding. In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese and dry vanilla pudding mix with an electric mixer until smooth and well combined.

3. Step 3: Fold in the Whipped Topping. Gently fold thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.

4. Step 4: Add Remaining Ingredients. Gently fold drained mandarin oranges, drained crushed pineapple, and mini marshmallows into the mixture until evenly distributed.

5. Step 5: Chill the Salad. Transfer to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours (overnight is best) to allow flavors to meld and texture to set.

6. Step 6: Serve and Enjoy. Stir gently before serving. Garnish with extra mandarin segments, toasted coconut, or mint if desired. Serve cold.

Notes

Thoroughly draining the canned fruit is crucial to prevent a watery salad.

Cream cheese must be softened to room temperature for a smooth base.

Do not overmix the whipped topping to keep the salad fluffy.

Chilling overnight yields the best flavor and texture.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Do not freeze or reheat this dish.

For a lighter version, use light whipped topping, reduced-fat cream cheese, and sugar-free pudding mix.

Variations: substitute other canned fruits (fruit cocktail, peaches), add fresh berries, or fold in shredded coconut or chopped nuts.
