Warm Baked Apples Filled With Feta: A unique, comforting dish that perfectly marries the juicy sweetness of baked apples with the tangy, salty creaminess of feta cheese. It’s a simple, nourishing, and versatile recipe perfect for dessert, brunch, or a side dish.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 medium-sized apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)

1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

1/4 cup water

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a small baking dish or line with parchment paper.

2. Wash and dry the apples. Carefully core each apple, creating a cavity without cutting through the bottom; a melon baller or paring knife works well.

3. In a small bowl, combine the crumbled feta, honey (or maple syrup), cinnamon, and melted butter. If using nuts, mix them in.

4. Divide the feta mixture evenly among the apples, pressing it into each cavity and mounding slightly at the top.

5. Place the stuffed apples in the prepared baking dish. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the dish around the apples.

6. Bake for 30–40 minutes, until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork but still hold their shape.

7. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5–10 minutes. Serve warm, optionally drizzled with extra honey or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

Pro Tips: Choose firm, sweet-tart apples like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala. Core carefully to avoid piercing the bottom. If browning too quickly, tent with foil. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Storage: Store cooled apples in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 10–15 minutes or microwave for 30–60 seconds. Freezing is not recommended.

Variations: Try Granny Smith for tarter flavor, goat cheese or ricotta instead of feta, maple syrup for vegan option, or add spices like nutmeg or herbs like thyme.
